What is Faith?
Faith is a confident expectation based on God’s Word. See Romans 10:17; Hebrews 11:1. Faith is Word-based confidence. It is a conviction that is born in our hearts when we hear God’s Word. See Romans 4:17-18.
Faith is Present Tense Confidence in God and His Word. Hebrews 11:1. Faith is always now. Faith is counting done what God has said. Faith is believing in the now that whatever God has promised is already yours. See Ephesians 1:3; 2 Corinthians 8:9; 1 Peter 2:24
Faith is the visible expression of confidence in God and His Word. Faith is the visible demonstration of confidence in God and His Word. See James 2:18,26. See Matthew 9:1-8; Mark 2:1-12. Faith is acting on the Word. See John 2:5.
Faith is taking God at His Word. See John 2:5; Matthew 8:5-13; Faith is taking God’s Word at face value. See Luke 5:1-7. In the realm of faith. The Word of God has final authority. See Titus 1:2. Faith is believing God’s Word is true and acting on it. See Hebrews 6:17-18.
Faith is confidence resting in the Faithfulness of God. Faith is trusting in the faithfulness of God. Faith is resting in the faithfulness of God. See Hebrews 11:11; 10:23
Faith is being fully persuaded of God’s ability to fulfill His promise or perform His Word. See Romans 4:20-21; Numbers 23:19
Faith is being fully convinced of God’s willingness to perform His promise. See Numbers 23:19; Psalm 89:34; Hebrews 6:13-20
Faith is being convinced of God’s willingness to use His Power for your benefit. See Romans 4:16; 1 John 4:16; Romans 8:31-32; James 1:5-8

How do we get faith?
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word. See Romans 10:17; 1:16-17; Acts 14:7-10
Faith comes with the New Birth. See Romans 12:3; Ephesians 4:5. The unbeliever has no faith. Deuteronomy 32:20; 2 Thessalonians 3:2
A. You have the faith of God. See Mark 11:22
B. You have the faith of the Son of God. See Galatians 2:20
C. You have the Spirit of faith. See 2 Corinthians 4:13; Galatians 5:22
D. You have faith like the Apostles. 2 Peter 1:1; 2 Corinthians 4:13

Faith is in levels. See Romans 1:17; Hebrews 12:2. Our Faith rests solely and completely in Christ.

Little faith is contaminated faith. Little faith is from the word oligopistos which means the following: the faith of short duration, a short burst of faith, or faith for a little while. See Matthew 13:22; 1 Thessalonians 3:10

Characteristics of Little Faith
Little faith is faith that is contaminated by worry. See Matthew 6:24-33(30)
Little faith is faith that is contaminated by fear. See Matthew 8:23-27(26)
Little faith is faith that is contaminated by doubt. See Matthew 14:22-33(31)
Little faith is faith that is contaminated by reasoning. See Matthew 16:5-12(8)

Faith can be strong or weak.
Weak faith is faith that is unstable because of sensory evidence.
Strong faith is fully persuaded that God can do what He promised. Romans 4:19-21; 14:1-2; 14:22-23.
Faith can be great or small. See Matthew 8:5-13. Great Faith is faith that takes God at His Word. See Matthew 15:21-28; Mark 7:24-30

How to activate your faith:
Get knowledge. Faith grows with knowledge. Faith begins when the will of God is known or revealed. Faith thrives when we have a knowledge of God’s will and His promises. See Romans 1:16-17; 10:14-17; 2 Corinthians 1:19-20.
Believe the Word you are hearing. Believing God’s Word activates the Power in the Word. Faith in God’s Word unlocks or unleashed the Power in the Word. Romans 1:16-17; 4:17-18; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Luke 1:45; Hebrews 4:1-2.
Meditate on the Word. See Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; 1 Timothy 4:14-15. As you meditate upon God’s Word you develop strong convictions in God’s Word. As you meditate on God’s Word, the Word of God takes root in your heart. See Matthew 13:20-21; Mark 4:16-17; Luke 8:13.
Speak with other tongues habitually. Praying in the Spirit activates your faith. It activates the spirit of faith and the gift of faith. Jude 20 NKJV, AMPC, MSG; 1 Corinthians 14:2,4; 14:13-14
Speak the Word. God’s Word has creative power. When God’s Word is spoken, God’s creative power is released. See Isaiah 57:19a; Matthew 17:21; Mark 11:22-23; 2 Corinthians 4:13
Act on the Word. Do the Word. Faith is activated when we act on the Word of God. John 2:5; James 2:18,26; 1 Thessalonians 1:3
Believe in God’s Love. Faith thrives when we contemplate the Love of God. Faith is activated by the knowledge of God’s love. The more we know that God loves us, the stronger our faith and confidence in Him become. See Galatians 5:6; 1 John 4:16-18; John 15:9
Walk-in Love. Bitterness and unforgiveness will hinder the flow of your faith. They will short circuit the growth and effectiveness of your faith. See Mark 11:24; 1 John 3:19-21; 2:28; 1 Corinthians 13:8a; Luke 22:31-32
Praise and Gratitude. See John 6:11; 11:40-44; Psalm 150:2. Complaining will short circuit your faith. It will hinder your faith but thanksgiving and gratitude will augment your faith
Fellowship with the brethren. Iron sharpeneth iron. Fellowshipping with Faith people is a faith booster. Faith is contagious. See Hebrews 3:12-13; 10:23-25 Proverbs 27:17
Feed on Testimonies and Biographies of the great acts of God. Hearing or reading about testimonies boosts our faith. We become stirred to dare big things. We are emboldened to do impossible things. See Psalm 78:4-8; 119:99; 119:111; 145:4-13; 105:1; Exodus 13:14; Joshua 4:6-7; Isaiah 38:19; 63:7
Remember God’s faithfulness. Be mindful of God’s faithfulness. Feeding on God’s faithfulness boosts our faith. Rehearse in your mind the miracles and favors you have experienced again and again in your mind. See Psalm 103:2; Deuteronomy 6:12; 8:18; Exodus 13:3; Hebrews 11:11; 1 Samuel 17:31-37. Keep talking about what God has done and what God is doing in your life.
